Tillandsia andicola is an epiphytic species, native to northern Argentina, where it grows and develops at latitudes ranging from 1000 to 2000 metres above sea level.
This specimen belongs to the Diaphoranthema family, a subgenus of the small Tillandsias, and is therefore included in the multiple forms of Capillaris.
It has thin, silvery leaves that grow in all directions and are somewhat rigid. It produces several small purple flowers at the end of its greyish bracts.
It requires very good sun exposure and high light levels as well as moderate humidity levels and good ventilation.
